AG Joseph's Children - Summary
The following are brief summaries providing information pertaining to AG Joseph Panicker's children through his marriages with Sarah Joseph and Theresiamma Joseph. Additional information regarding his children will be published in due course as the construction of the family website progresses.

Mary Jacob

Mary was the eldest of AG Joseph Panicker and Sarah Joseph's children. Image She was born in Chengannur, Kerala in 1936 and emigrated with the rest of the then family to Mombasa, Kenya in 1949 where she lived until 1956.

She was educated at the Star of the Sea School - which was then named White Sisters Convent School. Her education was cut short by a combination of circumstances and she returned temporarily to India in the early 50s' where she lived for a period with her maternal grandmother. She returned to Kenya for a while and then left again for India in 1956 and got married to AO Jacob in 1957.

She had three children - Alice, Roy and Reena - all of whom live in Kerala and five grand children. She died in 1972.

George Joseph (Thambi)

Thambi is the eldest son of AG Joseph Panicker and Sarah Joseph. He was born in Chengannur, Kerala in 1939 and also moved to Kenya in 1949. Image

He was educated at Aga Khan School in Mombasa and later at the Duke of Gloucester School in Nairobi where he completed his higher school certificate. He then went to Leicester University in England in 1957 where he obtained a BSc in Economics and Statistics.

He returned to Kenya in 1961 where he taught Economics and Mathematics at Allidina Visram High School in Mombasa. In 1966, he went to Manchester University where he got his PhD in Econometrics. He taught for many years at as a professor at that university. He later became a barrister at the Middle Temple, London at the age of 60.

He is married to Dr. Leela Joseph and has two children - Rory and Holly, four grand-daughters Maya, Tabitha, Petra & Zinzi and a grandson, Milo.

He retired in 2000 and he and Leela spend most of their time between Bolton, England and Kovalam, Kerala.

Thomas Joseph (Rana)

Rana is the third child and second son of AG Joseph Panicker and Sarah Joseph. He was born in Madurai, India in 1946 and also moved to Kenya in 1949.

Image He was educated at Kaloleni Primary School in Mombasa, a brief stint at Bishop Cottons School, Bangalore and then at Allidina Visram High School where he completed his Cambridge School Certificate. He left for England in 1962 where he completed his Chartered Accountancy.

He returned to India for 18 months when he was assigned to Hindustan Lever, Bombay in 1969 by the parent company, Unilever, with whom he was then employed. He emigrated to the US in 1971 where he lived in a suburb of Chicago while employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Subsequently he moved to Nashville, TN, Great Falls, VA and Topanga, CA during various periods primarily because of career-related relocations. In 1994, he retired after the hospital management company where he was employed as Senior Vice President and CFO, in Santa Monica, CA was sold. He then moved back to Great Falls, Virginia where he currently resides most of the time.

He is married to Dr Krishna (Mini) Joseph and has three children - Saira, Neeta and Amit, and four grandchildren - a grandson, DJ, a granddaughter, Deepali and twin grandsons, Praveen & Prakash.

He and Mini spend most of the year in the US and the winter months in Ernakulam, Kerala.

Susan Philip (Fifi)

Fifi is the younger daughter and fourth child of AG Joseph Panicker and Sarah Joseph. She was born in Mombasa, Kenya.

Image She was educated at the Star of the Sea School in Mombasa and St Teresa's Girls School in Nairobi. She completed her high school in Bishop Cottons Girls School, Bangalore after her parents had to return to India owing to her mother's illness. She then went to Fatima College, Madurai where she obtained a BA in English and subsequently to Madurai University where she was awarded a MA also in English.

Thereafter she taught undergraduates at Lady Doak College in Madurai until her marriage. After her marriage to Joseph Philip (from the Kanianthra family) in 1975, she lived in Bombay with her husband where she taught pre-university students after her children commenced school.

She and Jose emigrated to New Zealand in the mid-90s' where she worked as a teacher in Auckland. In 2007, they moved to Sydney, Australia where she is currently employed as a teacher. In both New Zealand and Australia, she completed additional courses to enable her to work as a teacher.

She and Jose have two children - Vivek and Vijay.

Eapen Joseph Panicker (Peter)

Peter is the youngest child of AG Joseph Panicker and Sarah Joseph.

Image He was born in Mombasa, Kenya in 1954 and completed his early education at Buxton Preparatory School in Mombasa and Parkhill School,Nairobi. The former school's student population was mainly African and the latter was mainly European - part of his mother's experimentation with integration which is referenced on Sarah Joseph's page.

He returned to India in 1964 with his parents when his mother needed treatment for cancer.

He completed his schooling at Loyola School, Trivandrum and then went to Mar Ivanios College where he obtained a BCom degree. Thereafter for several years he was involved in looking after the property he inherited from his father - including the original family home which, as the youngest son, he inherited in keeping with Syrian Christian tradition.

In 1990, he emigrated to the US and lived in Great Falls initially and thereafter in Sterling, Virginia after his family joined him.

He continued his education and training in the US with emphasis on various facets of Information Technology and has been employed in that field with AOL in the NOC (Network Operating Center) since 1998.

He is married to Susan (Shiny) and they have three children - Sarah, Susannah and Emmy.

Ashwati Kurian

Ashwati is the elder daughter of AG Joseph Panicker and Theresiamma Joseph. Image She was born in Kerala, India in 1968.

She completed her early education at Nicholson's School, Tiruvalla. She then went on to do her BSc in Mathematics at CMS College in Kottayam, Kerala.

She got married in 1989 to Biju Kurian and moved to Madras, where her husband is employed with MRF, after her marriage.

She is a home-maker and they have two children - Vishal and Joseph.

Renu Joseph

Renu is the younger daughter of AG Joseph Panicker and Theresiamma Joseph.

She was born in Kerala, India in 1971.

Image She completed her early education in Nicholson's School in Tiruvalla and then proceeded to BCM College in Kottayam, Kerala where she completed her BA. She also took several law courses while in Trivandrum.
